[:de]Lissabon war die erste Stadt auf dem europäischen Festland, nach unserer Transatlantiküberquerung. Die Celebrity Eclipse lag im Industriehafen von Lissabon im Tejo und damit nicht in Laufnähe zur Innenstadt. Von unserem Balkon aus hatten wir einen traumhaften Blick auf zwei Sehenswürdigkeiten Lissabons. Die Brücke des 25. Aprils und die Christus-Statue. Beide würden wir noch aus nächster Nähe sehen. Wir waren gespannt, was Lissabon noch zu bieten hat.

Da wir vergessen hatten, uns vorher über die Hafenbedingungen und die Möglichkeiten von Landgängen auf eigene Faust zu informieren, hatten wir einen Ausflug von Celebrity gebucht. Eine Panoramatour durch Lissabon.

Ponte 25 de Abril

Unser Ausflug begann mit einer Fahrt über die Ponte de 25. Abril. Die Ponte de 25. Abril ist eine rote Hängebrücke über dem Fluß Tejo. Sie erinnert stark an die Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Beim Überqueren der Brücke konnten wir auf der einen Seite der Brücke Lissabon Stadt und Hafen mit der Celebrity Eclipse und auf der anderen Seite des Tejo die Cristus Statue auf dem Berg gegenüber vom Hafen sehen. 

Christus-Statue

Die Cristo Rei war unser erster Fotostopp auf der Panoramatour. Sie erinnert an die Christus Statue in Rio de Janeiro. Von hier hatte man einen wundervollen Blick auf Lissabon, den Hafen und natürlich die wunderschöne Celebrity Eclipse. Der Besuch lohnt sich bei gutem Wetter besonders, wegen der weiten Sicht und dem fantastischen Ausblick über den Tejo.

Innenstadt von Lissabon

Danach ging es weiter in die Innenstadt von Lissabon. Da an diesem Tag ein Marathon stattfand, hatte der Bus einige Umwege zu fahren. Unser Eindruck war, dass Lissabon ein sehr maritimes Flair hat. Von unserem nächsten Fotostopp, dem Parque Eduardo VII de Inglaterra, konnte man wunderbare Fotos von der Stadt machen. Die Aussicht über den Park bis zum Tejo hinunter war faszinierend. Bei der weiteren Fahrt durch Lissabon kamen wir noch an der für Lissabon typisch gelben Tram vorbei und einem Aufzug, der an den Eiffelturm in Paris erinnert. Der Personenaufzug- Elevador de Santa Justa – in Lissabons Innenstadt wurde von einem Schüler von Gustavo Eiffel erbaut. Leider konnten wir beides nur im Vorbeifahren fotografieren.

Mosteiro dos Jerónimos

Zuletzt hielten wir im Stadtteil Belem. Hier konnten wir wieder aus dem Bus aussteigen und durch den Park vor dem Hieronymiten Kloster – Mosteiro dos Jerónimos- laufen. Das Kloster ist reich verziert und wirklich sehenswert. Auch der Park davor ist mit Blumen und Sträuchern sehr schön angelegt und hat einige Bänke im Schatten. Direkt am Tejo haben wir dann noch das Denkmal der Entdecker bewundert.

Direkt am Tejo haben wir dann noch das Denkmal der Entdeckungen – Padrão dos Descobrimentos – bewundert. Die in Stein eingemeißelten Menschen auf dem Schiff sind sehr schön gearbeitet. Auch von hier hat man erneut einen traumhaften Blick auf den Tejo, die Ponte 25 de Abril und den Torre de Belem. Alle Kreuzfahrtschiffe die auf dem Tejo die Stadt Lissabon gen Atlantik verlassen kommen hier vorbei. Auch wir kehrten nach diesem Beeindruckendem Stopp zum Schiff zurück.

Ausfahrt aus Lissabon

Man sollte die Ausfahrt aus Lissabon mit dem Schiff nicht verpassen. Von Deck aus kann man noch mal den Torre de Belém, das Denkmal der Entdeckungen und die Christus-Statue fotografieren. Unglaublich toll ist auch die Fahrt unter der Brücke des 25. April durch. Bei uns sah es sehr knapp aus, aber die Eclipse passte gut unter der Hängebrücke durch.

Nächster Stopp: Vigo![:en]Lisbon was the first city that we visited on the European continent during our transatlantic crossing. The Celebrity Eclipse docked in the industrial port of Lisbon and therefore not within walking distance to downtown. From our balcony we had a wonderful view of two sights of Lisbon: the bridge of the 25th April and the huge Christ statue. We were curious to see what else Lisbon has to offer.

Since we forgot to inform us in advance about possible shore excursions or to discover the city on your own, we booked an excursion by Celebrity Cruises. It was a panoramic tour of Lisbon.

Ponte 25 de Abril

Our trip began with a drive over the Ponte de 25 Abril. The Bridge of the 25th April is a red suspension bridge across the Tagus River. It reminded us of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. While crossing the bridge we saw on the one side Lisbon city and port with the Celebrity Eclipse and on the other side of the Tagus the big Cristus statue on the mountain.

Christ statue

The Cristo del Rei statue was our first photo stop at the panoramic tour. It recalls the statue of Christ in Rio de Janeiro. From here you had a wonderful view of Lisbon, the harbor and of course the gorgeous Celebrity Eclipse cruise ship. This place is really worth a visit because of the wide view of the city and the fantastic views over the Tagus river.

The city centre of Lisbon

Then we drove to the city centre of Lisbon. On that day was a marathon in the city. The bus had to make some detours to reach the city. We got the impression that Lisbon has a wonderful maritime flair. From our next photo stop, the Parque Eduardo VII de Inglaterra, you could take wonderful pictures of the city. The views of the park and down to the Tagus river were fascinating. We continued our trip through Lisbon and saw a typical yellow tram and an elevator, which looked like the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The elevator – Santa Justa – in downtown Lisbon was built by a student of Gustavo Eiffel. Unfortunately, we could only take pictures of it while passing.

Mosteiro dos Jerónimos

Later on we held in the Belem district. Here we were able to get off the bus and take a walk through the park in front of the Hieronymites Monastery – Mosteiro dos Jerónimos. The monastery was richly decorated. The park in front of it is very nice, has lots of flowers and shrubs and several benches in the shade. Close to the Tagus river was also the wonderful Monument to the Discoveries.

Padrão dos Descobrimentos

We admired the Monument to the Discoveries – Padrão dos Descobrimentos. It is a big limestone sculpture with ship routes and many people carved into it.This monument celebrates the 15th and 16th century in Portugal also called as Age of Discovery. During this time different people such as monarchs, missonaries, explorers and others explored the sea and began to trade with Asia. From here you also have a beautiful view of the Tagus river, the Ponte 25 de Abril and the Torre de Belem. All cruise ships leaving to the Atlatic Ocean pass by at this place. After this impressive stop we returned to the ship.

Leaving Lisbon

You should not miss the moment the cruise ship leaves Lisbon. From the outdoor deck you have a wonderful view of all the sights like the Torre de Belém, the Monument to the Discoveries and the Christ statue. The most incredible moment is when the cruise ship passes beneath the bridge of the 25th of April. Even if it seemed almost too close, the Celebrity Eclipse fit well under the suspension bridge.
