Verschiedene Möglichkeiten Chania und Kreta zu entdecken
An Bord bekam man wieder kostenlos einen Hafen- und Einkaufsführer für Chania. Dieser enthielt allgemeine Informationen, etwas zur Geschichte, einen Stadtplan mit den wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten und kurzer Beschreibung, etwas zu Landausflügen und lokalen Gebräuchen, shopping-Tipps, Infos zur Währung, wo das nächste Postamt und die Touristeninfo waren und nützliche Wörter und Sätze. Zum Beispiel „Hallo- Yia Sou“. Platz für Notizen gab es auch. Man hatte also einen guten ersten Überblick auf 2 Seiten in der Hand. Royal Caribbean bot folgenden deutschsprachigen Ausflug an:
Chania, Kreta, Griechenland: Real Crete (4 h, Erw. $56, Kinder $ 38)
Wir beschlossen uns allein ohne Ausflug auf den Weg nach Chania zu machen. Im Hafen direkt vor dem Schiffsausgang standen mehrere Taxen, die Ausflüge anboten.
Es gab auch einen kostenfreien Bus raus aus dem Hafengelände. Wir entscheiden uns für den Bus und fuhren nach Chania. Der Bus hält direkt an einem kleinen Platz vor der Markthalle und so war diese auch unser erster Anlaufpunkt. Da wir früh am Vormittag unterwegs waren, war in der Markthalle auch Betrieb. Hier gab es viele Stände mit Gewürzen, gut duftendem Gebäck, Ziegenmilchseife und natürlich auch mit Fleisch und Käse.Wer Lust hat kann vom Marktplatz aus auch in einen der roten Hop-on Hop-off Busse steigen, oder zum Hafen runter schlendern.
Wir fuhren zurück zum Schiff. An einem der Poller vor der Navigator of the Seas klebten schon unzählige Ausflugsbuttons. Merkwürdig was sich so für Dinge als Hinterlassenschaften von Kreuzfahrern ergeben.
Nach Chania gingen wir ins Johnny Rockets
Mittags gab es an Bord ein Grillgericht Buffet am Pool auf Deck 11.
Wir entschieden uns jedoch für das Johnny Rockets: $ 4,95 extra Kosten p.P Trinkgeld inkl.
Wir nutzen die Gelegenheit und machen es uns um 17 h im Johnny Rockets gemütlich. Was für ein tolles Diner an Bord. Man fühlt sich wie in den 50ern. Klassische Sitzecken in rot und ein Tresen mit Kellner mit Haartolle. Fantastisch! Auf der Karte wählen wir Burger, Pommes, Onionrings und Eis aus. Das Ketchup wird als Smiley serviert. Ein Traum!
Und das tollste ist, dass zwischendurch die Bedienung zur Showeinlage anstimmt. Also man sollte auf keinen Fall die Navigator oft the Seas verlassen, ohne im Johnny Rockets gewesen zu sein!
Heute Abend ist elegantes Abendessen- Chef´s Diner! Und zwar mit Italian Night! Eine Sensation. Die ganze Crew stellt sich auf der Haupttreppe auf, Musik spielt und die Servierten werden in der Luft gewirbelt. Ein heiden Spaß!
Zum Abschluss genossen wir auch noch einmal den tollen Sonnenuntergang vom Balkon unserer Kabine.
Seetag (05.11.11)
Heute war Erholung angesagt. Wir gönnten uns eine Massage, kauften im Logoshop den obligatorischen Kühlschrank Magneten und ließen die Seele baumeln und das Bein ruhen. Da heute der letzte Abend war, wurden heute auch die Trinkgelder verteilt. Wie das funktioniert haben wir uns wirklich vorher gefragt. Zum Glück fanden wir am Abend vorher Zettel mit Hinweisen auf unserer Kabine. Diese sahen so aus:
Um 21:00 h gingen wir noch einmal in die letzte Show im Metropolis Theater.
Um 23:15 fand dann die große Abschlussparade die „Circus Parade“ auf der Royal Promenade statt. Zwar etwas spät, aber da wir uns ja den ganzen Tag ausgeruht hatten, genossen wir den fulminanten Abschluss unserer Reise mit der Navigator oft the Seas.

Different ways to explore Chania and Crete
On board you got again a free port and shopping guide. It contained general information about the history of crete, a city map with the main attractions and a short description, information to shore excursions and local customs, shopping tips, information on the currency, where the nearest post office and the tourist office were and useful words and phrases in Greek. For example, „Hello – Yia Sou“. The guide had also space for your own notes. So you had a good first overview on 2 pages. Royal Caribbean offered the following German tour : Chania , Crete, Greece : Real Crete ( 4 hours , adults $ 56 , kids $ 38 . )
We decided on making our own trip to Chania. In the harbor in front of the ship were several taxis that offered trips:
There was also a free bus in the port area. We chose the bus and drove into town. The bus stops right at a small square in front of the market hall , and so this was our first stop . AIt was early in the morning, so we could visit the market hall. There were many market stalls selling spices, good smelling pastries, goat milk soap and of course also meat and cheese. From the market hall you can easily reach the red hop-on hop-off bus or stroll down to the harbor.
We went back to the ship. At the landing stage of the Navigator of the Seas there was a garbage can glued with innumerable excursion stickers. Strange and funny memories of crusaders!
After exploring Chania we tested Johnny Rockets
At noon there was a grill buffet on the pool deck 11. But we chose the Johnny Rockets : $ 4.95 extra charge p.P tip incl . We took this opportunity to settle in at 17 h at Johnny Rockets.
What a great dinner on board! You feel like in the 50’s . Classic sitting areas in red and a bar with a waiter with quiff. Fantastic! On the menu we choose burgers, fries, onion rings and ice-cream. The ketchup is served as Smiley. What a dream! And the most amazing thing is that while you are waiting for your food the waiters start a show. So you should not leave the Navigator the Seas without having been at Johnny Rockets !
Tonight is elegant dinner time- Chef´s Diner! Italian Night! A sensation. The whole crew lines up on the stairs, there is great music and the napkins are thrown into the air! Great fun!
In the end we enjoyed once more the wonderful view of the setting sun from our balcony.
Second Day at see (05.11.11)
This day we tried to relax. We had a massage, bought a magnet for our fridge and took a break. This night was the last night and we had to pay the tip for the crew. We really wondered how that should work. But luckily we found a note with some information in our cabin the night before. It looked like that:
At 21:00 we visited the last show at the Metropolis Theatre.
At 23:15 was the huge parade. The „Circus Parade“ at the royal promenade. It was a bit late, but we relaxed all day long and we now were ready to enjoy the end of our wonderful cruise.
