The visit to an Outlet in Florida has to be on your plan. Therefore, it was a fixed target destination on our trip. First thing we planned to do was Outlet Shopping!
We landed on time at 16:15 local time in Miami, Florida. We had pre-booked the rental car from home via the ADAC at Hertz as well as all of our hotels for the period until the transatlantic trip started. The pick-up counter for our rental car was well signposted and so we quickly found the Hertz counter at the airport. Everything was prepared and we got our Nissan. The cars are in a separate parking deck. Here the car is scanned and you simply drive out. We had brought our navigation system from Germany and already entered our first destination: the Marriott Courtyard in Weston Florida . And so we drove off.
The Marriott Courtyard in Weston was very close to the highway and in a side street. There are plenty of parking spaces directly at the hotel. So no parking problem and no valet parking. Our room was ok, but unfortunately overlooking the highway. Since we wanted to go shopping the next day from here, it was ok. We had booked an escape! Shopping Package. With this package you got a booklet with coupons for the Outlet Sawgrass Mills. We decided to go eat and walked 4 minutes to the nearby Mexican Restaurant (I love tacos). Then we fell into bed.
The next morning we had really good hot breakfast at the hotel (fruits, eggs, bacon, pancakes…). Equipped with the coupon book we went to Sawgrass Mills. In Sawgrass Mills there are plenty of free parking places from which you get to different entrances to the mall. What can I say ….. we shopped! We spent the whole day there. For lunch we ate at the Cheesecake Factory. In the evening we went back to the hotel and we fell into bed. The next morning we wanted to go to the Florida Keys.
The next day we started our trip to the Florida Keys. We had planned two stops on our way to the Florida Keys. Our first stop should be on Key Largo. There we wanted to swim with dolphins. Then we planned to go to Key West, and then back to Miami.
Our first stop was Key Largo. We stayed at the The Marriott Courtyard Key Largo. Usually you will need from Weston about 1.30 hours to Key Largo. We needed a bit longer, because we often stopped along the way to take pictures. Just before you get to the Keys there is another great outlet: Florida Keys Outlet Center. This Outlet is a Prime Outlet. We had already registered at home as a VIP member, so we brought our discount coupons with us. The Outlet is much smaller than Sawgrass Mills but also has good offers, and of course plenty of parking. After we had been shopping in the Outlet we finally drove to Key Largo.
