Today we visited the World´s leading Travel Trade Show – the ITB in Berlin – for you and informed us about all the cruise news.
A great highlight was the blogger event and the 6th cruise day of Hamburg Tourism in Hall 6.2! We were able to exchange ideas with other bloggers such as Sommertage, flashpackcitygirl, wiederunterwegs and travellingtheworld and do some networking. Also the new Elbphilharmonie concert hall was presented by Hamburg Tourism. Immediately afterwards there were different thematic blocks with cruise news and discussions with representatives of the shipping companies MSC, AIDA, Costa and Arosa.
Our 3 News-Highlights of ITB Berlin:
- Felix Eichhorn, CEO of AIDA Cruises, has introduced the first video of the new AIDA Prima, revealing that the christening will be done by Emma Schweiger. She will be the godmother of the new AIDA Prima and she will be the youngest godmother that has ever existed. Hamburg is even her hometown. The christining will be on 07.05.2016 and it will be accompanied by a huge firework. We are very excited about the christining at the 827th Hamburg Port Anniversary and of course we will report live for you.
- A culinary cruise highlight was presented by TUI Cruises. Wybcke Meier, the CEO of TUI Cruises, has announced that star chef Tim Raue will be cooking on the Mein Schiff 5! We not only got to see Tim Raue live, but we also tasted his delicious scallops. Tim Raue will be cooking in the restaurant Hanami on the Mein Schiff 5. He also designed the restaurant and explained, that there will be a special atmosphere in the Hanami. However, it is not part of the all-inclusive concept.
- Frank Horch, senator for economics, transport and innovation in Hamburg, is the cruise personality of the year 2016. Congratulations!! The award was presented and handed over to him by last year’s winner Karl Pojer, the CEO of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.
Of course, the Hamburg Cruise Days 2017 and the cruise highlights in Hamburg coming up in 2016 and 2017 were also presented. If you are going to the ITB, you should definitely check out the exhibition area of Hamburg and the shipping companies at Hall 6.2.
If you want to inform yourself about different cruise routes and ships like we did, you should visit Hall 25. In Hall 25 you will find plenty of cruise information at the booths of the big shipping companies such as Celebrity Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, Hapag Lloyd Cruises and many more. Also you can find out a lot about river cruises at the booths of TransOcean and DCS Amethyst.
